TurfBreeze Portable

TurfBreeze Portable

* All TurfBreezeTM fan models are available in portable versions. Versatile surface aeration with portable TurfBreezeTM fans. Easily provide cooling to turf under stress. Trailer mounted operations allow for placement around turf with limited power access. Reposition to maintain multiple locations, for special events, and to store in the off-season.

TurfBreezeTM fans are designed and constructed with both efficiency and effectiveness in mind.

TurfBreezeTM fans have raised the bar on surface aeration. The standard features of the fans include durable steel trailers, oscillating assemblies and gas and electric power control packages.

The precisely designed inlet bell (bell mouth-shaped entry duct) within each of our powerful fans ensures that, during operation, the maximum amount of air be drawn into the duct with a minimum of loss. That is key to maximizing fan efficiency and minimizing power usage. The inlet bell also substantially reduces vibration and noise, two critical factors positively increasing the efficacy and life of our fans.

TurfBreeze fans are virtually maintenance-free. The synchronized drive system eliminates the need for periodic belt tensioning and sealed pillow block bearings require no re-lubrication.

Proven Engineering & Design to Deliver Superior Airflow

Developed to provide airflow on the surface of golf course greens and sports fields, TurfBreezeTM is the most respected name in surface aeration.

Promoting the healthiest turf through improved air circulation and the alleviation of stress imparted by heat are the primary reasons most golf course superintendents utilize fans on their greens. Turfgrass can be majorly impaired by solar heat; this is why surface aeration is so important. When a green’s subsoil temperature reaches high levels, turfgrass roots begin to shrink, diminishing the quality of the putting surface. Fan use can lower the surface temperature of a green by as much as 10° Fahrenheit, which in turn lowers the soil temperature approximately 4° to 6° F.

The Inlet Bell Difference:

  • Relieve Heat Stress
  • Eliminate Excess Moisture
  • Improve the Quality of Shaded Greens
  • Improve Motor Efficiency with High Volume Intake
  • Lowers Energy Use
  • Reduce Sound Levels

Our TurfBreezeTM technology blows away the competition.

Competitor Fans are Less Efficient

TurfBreeze Fans - what inefficient airflow looks like infographic

In competitors’ fans, the incoming airflow is diverted away from the walls of the fan housing, creating little or no loading of the rotor blade. The inefficiency of this design requires the fan to work much harder to produce adequate airflow. This results in poor performance, high vibration, and excessive noise.

TurfBreezeTM Fans Maximize Airflow

Superior air intake allows fan to condense airflow and propel a high volume of smooth airflow across the green surface.

  1. The inlet bell allows maximum air intake improving motor efficiency, lower noise and reduced energy use.
  2. The precisely-designed smooth curve of the inlet bell allows the fan to draw in the maximum amount of air at minimal loss.
  3. Exceptional air flow supply and fan blade position condenses airflow and projects maximum delivery of surface air movement across grass surface.

TurfBreezeTM Planning

Make the most of your TurfBreezeTM setup with a little preparation.

Size

Fans are rated in CFM (cubic feet per minute) at a specific static pressure, similar to a water pump. Generally, the larger the green, a fan with more CFM is preferred.

Similar to sprinkler heads, fan size must provide adequate energy to offer sufficient velocity at the furthest point from the fan.

Quantity

The general rule of thumb is one fan per green. One large fan always works better than two or more smaller fans.

Even for deeply pocketed greens, one fan will suffice, but you may need to choose a fan with a higher CFM to provide adequate air movement over the entire surface.

Placement

Fans can be discreetly hidden in tree lines and silhouetted against a background. Even though fans are usually quieter than a homeowner’s air conditioning system, it is best to keep fans as far as possible from patios and porches as the predominant fan “sound path” is from the inlet to outlet.

Set the oscillation range as short as possible to achieve the best coverage. If the oscillator is set at half of the maximum range, twice the amount of air reaches the green. Optimally, a fan should be positioned horizontal to the green with a 30° cone of air catching the edge of the green closest to the fan.

Store your TurfBreeze fan properly in cold weather

Winter Storage

All debris should be cleaned from fan and all grease points should be properly greased. Store in a covered, dry location, or cover with a fan cover. Fans left outdoors should be operated for an hour or two per month.

Attractive, durable fan covers are available for purchase through TurfBreezeTM. After storage, check for proper lubrication and that all bolts are tight. Inspect belts for proper tension and wear.
